DMV, post office & library
The DMV is split in two. A license plate agency handles tags, titles and registration. A driver license office handles licenses, IDs and road tests. There's no full-time driver license office in Southport or on the island.
Bolivia License Plate Agency
30 Government Center Dr, 1st floor (the county complex). Mon–Fri 8am–4:30pm. Tags, titles and registration only, no driver licenses.
Southport License Plate Agency
4891 Long Beach Rd SE, Unit 6 (the Food Lion center). Mon–Fri 9am–5pm. It moved here in 2025.
Nearest license office: Shallotte
5298 Main St, Shallotte. Southport gets only a mobile DMV unit two days a month, so check the NCDMV office finder for its dates and to book an appointment.

Southport Convenience Center
8392 River Rd SE. Open Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat 8am–6pm. Household trash and recycling, cars and pickups only. Larger loads go to the county landfill in Bolivia. For bulk items on the island, use the Town's Airport Rd site.
